This lonely target star is in the far north of the sky over SETI net and as such it is viewable nearly all day, all night, all year.

Al Kalb al Rai is a white main-sequence star in the constellation Cepheus. At 245 light years away, it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 5.45. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 8.2 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 24,000 and 37,400 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
